WCVA Active Inclusion Remit

The Active Inclusion Fund aims to make significant contribution to raising levels of employment (including self-employment) and reducing economic inactivity in Wales.

The fund operates under ESF Priority 1: Tackling Poverty through Sustainable Employment and specifically, Objective 2, to increase the employability of economically inactive and long term unemployed people aged 25+ who have complex barriers to employment.

Enterprise Advisor with vast experience

Carmel Barry has been engaged in helping people setting up successful and sustainable businesses for over 40 years.  Initially, this was part of her role in Nat West Bank, where she worked for 24 years, becoming a Senior Business Manager of one of Wales’ largest branches with a staff of 80+.

Carmel set up her own consultancy business in 2000, delivering support to businesses looking to raise loan capital, writing tenders and bids, as well as writing and delivering training courses. She began to work on Welsh Government business support contracts, with a range of providers including Newport & Gwent Enterprise, Centre for Business, South Wales Chamber of Commerce and currently with Business in Focus. This new project is providing her with what she describes as her most rewarding work ever.

Using our experience from previous projects, reaching the target group and taking them through an informal but structured pathway – mostly one to one but where possible  some  group work and linking with role models and using case studies

Could you benefit from Carmel’s vast knowledge and experience for a project that you would like to partner on?
