Cardiff-based company Food Adventures is one of 751 businesses in Wales to benefit from a loan through the Start Up Loans Company

As of May 2015 the Government funded Start Up Loans Company had lent £4,621,621 to 757 individuals in Wales and South Wales, helping them turn their business ambitions into reality. This number is growing every day. We have supported everything from a hair salon in Mid Glamorgan to a vintage clothes and record store in Cardiff.

The scheme is open to anyone over the age of 18 who is eligible to work in the UK, you can check www.startuploans.co.uk full details of application criteria. We offer personal loans for business purposes of up to £25,000. And in addition to finance our loan recipients also receive access to free business offers and an expert business mentor. Our loans offer a low fixed interest rate of 6% per annum and are repayable between one and five years. Start Up Loans are available to individuals hoping to start a new business or those that have been trading for up to 24 months. As our loans are personal more than one company founder is able to apply for funding.

We work with a network of regional and specialist Delivery Partners across the UK, who offer the loan and support on our behalf. Our Delivery Partners in Wales have extensive knowledge and experience of working with start-up businesses in the area and are on hand to support and guide you through the early stages of your business.

Loan recipient Carol Adams worked with our local delivery partner Business in Focus to get Food Adventure off the ground. Food Adventures offers half day tours of local vineyards, breweries, food producers, foraging tours, private restaurant visits and cooking master classes. Running her own business has allowed Carol to not only turn her passion for food into a viable business but she has also enjoyed learning new skills such as marketing.

Across the UK more people than ever are taking their future in their hands by starting a business. Self-employment is becoming a viable career option allowing individuals to utilise their skills and follow their passions. So now is the perfect time to fulfil your business ideas in to a reality or take your venture to the next level.
